Kirins up to fourth after Nongbua victory
John Patrick Straub and Abbos Otakhonov scored a goal each as Muang Thong United picked up three points at their home ground following a 2-1 Thai League 1 victory over Nongbua Pitchaya on Saturday night.
The Kirins got the first goal in the 24th minute when Kasitdet Wechayawong set up Straub.
Nongbua fared better in the second half and levelled through a Jakkrawut Songma strike in the 64th minute, but Muang Thong's Otakhonov came up with the winner on 88 minutes, heading home a corner kick.
Muang Thong moved to fourth spot in the league standings with 29 points from 18 matches while Nongbua remained in 12th place with 20 points from 19 matches.
Meanwhile in other games on Saturday night, hosts Lamphun Warriors went down 1-0 to second-placed Bangkok United with Mahmoud Eid netting the only goal of the match after 32 minutes.
Also, Nakhon Ratchasima were held 3-3 at home by Rayong to stay put in ninth place in the table with 25 points from 19 matches.
