Thailand's dream of making a historic appearance in the Fifa Futsal World Cup quarter-finals in Bukhara, Uzbekistan, was shattered by a 5-2 defeat at the hands of France on Friday night.
Defeat means that Thailand have fallen for the fourth consecutive edition at the last 16 stage of the tournament.
Thai goalkeeper Arun Senbat did well to stop a powerful shot from Arthur Tchaptchet but the ball fell to Steven Bendali who squeezed in a low shot in the ninth minute before Mamadou Toure made it 2-0 on 23 minutes.
For Thailand, Suphawut Thuean- klang struck at 25 minutes only to see France's Abdessamad Mohammed restore their two-goal edge a minute before the break.
The Thais had another goal from Narongsak Wingwon (33), but Souheil Mouhoudine (38) and Ayoub Saadaoui (39) completed the job for France.
Thailand assistant futsal coach Eloy Alonso said after the match: "It's a pity that we lost as we created several chances in the first half."
After the match, Thailand coach Miguel Rodrigo was red-carded.
Alonso said: "The referee penalised Miguel and showed him the red card, but it wasn't Miguel who had caused the trouble. He had gone to congratulate the French team in fact."
Meanwhile, both games in Thai League 1 ended in goalless stalemates on Friday night with hosts Muang Thong United drawing Khon Kaen United and Bangkok United being held by Ratchaburi at home.
