Defending champions Buriram United kicked off their Thai League 1 campaign by picking up three points through a 3-2 away victory at Lamphun Warriors on Saturday night.
Supachai Chaided gave the Thunder Castle the lead in the 20th minute before the home team striker Anan Yodsangwal equalised just after the 30-minute mark.
Lamphun rattled Buriram, seeking their fifth straight top-flight title, three minutes before the break when Willen Mota gave the Warriors a 2-1 lead.
The defending champions got into their own after the break and levelled the score through Theerathon Bunmathan in the 51st minute before Brazilian forward Guilherme Bissoli produced the winner on 77 minutes.
Buriram coach Osmar Loss said: "It was a tough game. I am happy that the players kept their composure after going a goal down.
"But this game has made it clear that we need to work harder and get better."
Buriram will next play in the Asean Club Championship or Shopee Cup against Selangor from Malaysia on Wednesday at home.
Meanwhile, Muang Thong United left it late to secure three points as they defeated Sukhothai 1-0 in their first league game of the season.
Stefan Tsonkov netted the winning goal in the 85th minute.
BG Pathum United, hoping to challenge Buriram for the trophy, dropped points in their opening game at PT Prachuap with both sides playing out a 2-2 draw.
The hosts gained a two-goal advantage through Nick Taylor (15) and Phon-Ek Jensen (53) but the Rabbits fought back with Seydine N'Diaya (55) and Gakuto Notsuda (90+3) finding the net for the visitors.
Prachuap coach Sasom Pobprasert said: "This is like a win to me. I never thought we would win this game against Pathum United. I have told the players not to dwell too much on squandering the two-goal lead.
"This is an interesting contest and BG used their full squad as well. We tried everything we could, so a draw isn't a disappointing outcome for me at all."
In the other match on Saturday night, hosts Nakhon Ratchasima were held to a goalless draw by Chonburi.
