Buriram sign Indonesia's Walsh to bolster title bid
Ten-time Thai League 1 champions Buriram United have further strengthened their squad by signing Indonesia international Sandy Walsh as a new member of the team.
The Indonesian-Belgian right wing back played for J1 League club Yokohama F Marinos in 12 matches. He will don the No.14 jersey at the Thunder Castle.
Walsh started his youth football career with Belgium's RSC Anderlecht before moving to KRC Genk (Belgium) Academy.
He was handed a spot on the first team in 2012 and played for Genk for five years, helping the team win the Belgian Cup in 2013.
Walsh then played for two other Belgian clubs, Zulte Waregem and KV Mechelen, before joining J1 League's Yokohama F Marinos in February this year. He started for the Marinos in their AFC Champions League Elite clash with Shanghai Port.
He will have another Indonesia international, Shayne Pattynama, for company at Buriram United, who are seeking their fifth straight top-flight title this season.
Walsh played for the Dutch national U15, U16, U18, U19 and U20 teams before choosing to re- present his mother's homeland, Indonesia, in international tournaments in 2023.
