Thailand midfielder Ekanit Panya is excited at the prospect of playing in the King's Cup for the first time and the Japan-based star hopes to see the fans come out in big numbers to support the national team in the Oct 11-14 tournament.
"I would like to thank coach Masatada Ishii for giving me the opportunity to play in the King's Cup tournament this year," said the Urawa Red Diamonds attacker. "It's always an honour to represent Thailand in tournaments."
"Playing in the King's Cup tournament is such a great honour for every player," he continued. "It's one of the biggest Cup tournaments in Thailand. Any Thai player would dream of winning the tournament once in their career.
"The tournament will be held in Songkhla this year and this will be my first time in the province," he said.
"I remember very well my experience of playing in the southern part of Thailand. When I played for Chiang Mai FC in Thai League 2 and we visited Krabi FC. The fans were loud and that impressed me. I hope the fans will come out and strongly support the national team during the tournament as well," he added.
The 50th King's Cup football tournament will be played at Tinsulanonda Stadium in Songkhla from Oct 11-14.
Matches involving the Thai team will be broadcast live via Thai Rath TV (32) and the official Facebook page and YouTube channel of Changsuek Official.
