Port defeated Nakhon Pathom United 2-0 in Thai League 1 on Sunday night to close to within a point of leaders Buriram United.
Suphanan Bureerat and Felipe Amorim scored one goal each to help Port pick up three important points at their PAT Stadium.
The victory has pushed Port closer to the Thunder Castle but the defending champions have two games in hand.
Suphanan said after the game: "In this match, we helped each other well and played according to the tactics given to us by the coach.
"These are three very important points for us and I am happy to have contributed to the victory."
Port will next play Nakhon Ratchasima after the Fifa Day break on Oct 19.
In the other match on Sunday night, hosts Nongbua Pitchaya failed to claim any points after suffering a 3-2 loss to Bangkok United.
Nongbua got off to a good start, netting the first goal of the match in the 27th minute through Jakkrawut Songma but Mahmoud Eid was quick to equalise for the Angels.
Muhsen Al-Ghassani struck twice in the 73rd and 83rd minutes for the visitors before Nongbua got their second goal in the last minute of injury time from Abo Elisa.
