Abdulla Dayakaev insists his ultimate goal is to become “the best fighter in the world” with bantamweight Muay Thai champ Superlek Kiatmoo9 even in his sights after another stunning knockout at ONE Friday Fights 92.
The 22-year-old Russian returned to the win column with a 35-second finish against Sibmuen on Friday night at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok.
“Coach Nay” had to be stretchered out of the ring – though, thankfully, was soon seen walking around backstage.
Had it not been for an uncharacteristic weight miss on the eve of the fight, Dayakev would almost certainly have won a 350,000 baht bonus – and perhaps even earned a US$100,000 ONE Championship contract.
“I feel OK, just I want a bonus, but I didn’t make weight,” he told the Bangkok Post after his win. “Just 1 kilo, maybe 900 grams. Next time, next time.
“I don’t know what happened, now I did the same as before – drink water and eating. Last kilo I stopped sweating. I’m 40 minutes sitting in the sauna and not sweating.
“Of course I want a contract, I come for the contract here. I talked to the team before the fight. I just smashed Coach Nay – now give me a fight on February 7, my birthday. I will take a bonus there. Give me a double bonus, because it’s my birthday. I wait.”
Dayakaev now has five wins at ONE Lumpinee, and just one blemish on his record – a unanimous decision loss to Thailand’s Yod-IQ Or Pimolsri in October.
“I come here always for the knockout,” he added. ‘You see my last fight with Yod-IQ, the judges didn’t give it to me. Now, I will always do the knockout, Inshallah. Finish.
“I came here to become the champion. I want to be the best fighter in the world. It doesn’t matter with who I fight. If Superlek wants, I can come for the belt. Doesn’t matter. If Anatoly Malykhin can do 65 kilos, I will wait.
“I want to say Boss Sir Chatri [Sityodtong, ONE chairman and CEO], sorry – next time I will make weight, thank you.”
