
Thailand will play a warm-up match against China on Tuesday as the FIVB Women's Volleyball World Championship 2025 is set to start this week.
The match at Bangkok's Indoor Stadium at Hua Mark is part of a grand celebration of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Thailand.
The match will be played competitively over three sets, said Somporn Chaibangyang, president of the Thailand Volleyball Association (TVA) during a press conference Sunday.
Later two mixed teams comprising players from both nations will be formed to play a one-set exhibition game for the entertainment of the crowd, added the Thai volleyball chief.
The friendly will start at 4pm and will be live on TVA YouTube channel. Admission is free.
The Chinese national team, who arrived in Bangkok on Saturday, will travel to Chiang Mai after Tuesday's warm-up match.
China are in Pool F along with Dominican Republic, Colombia and Mexico in the world championship. The pool phase will take place at the Chiang Mai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Thailand are in Pool A along with Netherlands, Sweden and Egypt and will play all of their preliminary phase matches at Bangkok's Indoor Stadium at Hua Mark.
First-time host Thailand is the third country in Asia to stage the world championship, following Japan and China.
