ONE Championship has released six boxers – including former strawweight Muay Thai champion Smilla Sundell – in its latest round of roster cuts, according to update profile pages on its official website.
The Swedish 20-year-old became the youngest world champion in the promotion’s history when she won the belt in April 2022, aged 17.
But ONE has cut Sundell as she is unable to compete in its heaviest women’s weight class, the Bangkok Post understands. Sundell last fought in May 2024 when she lost her belt on the scale after failing to pass hydration for a title defence against Natalia Diachkova.
The promotion wished her the best in her future endeavours, and continued success.
Should ONE open a flyweight Muay Thai and/or kickboxing division in the future, it would be keen to welcome Sundell back, the promotor said.
Former ONE Championship bantamweight MMA title challenger Kwon Won Il has been released
Thai legend Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong was another high-profile exit.
The 33-year-old kickboxer lost his last two bouts in ONE – both in Muay Thai – by decision against the highly touted Shadow Singahamawynn in December 2024, and by second-round TKO to Nico Carrillo in April.
Sitthichai has four defeats in his last five overall, but scored a notable decision win in June 2024 over Masaaki Noiri, who now holds the ONE interim featherweight kickboxing title.
Australian former heavyweight Muay Thai title challenger Alex Roberts, 36, also departs after going 0-2 since debuting in December 2023, suffering stoppage losses to Roman Kryklia and Beybulat Isaev.
Celest Hansen is among the latest round of ONE Championship fighter releases
Celest Hansen leaves with four defeats in her last five outings.
The 31-year-old Australian atomweight Muay Thai fighter’s only win in that period came against Masami Machida in July 2024, with losses to current atomweight kickboxing champ Phetjeeja by TKO, as well as decision loss to Yu Yau Pui, Francisca Vera, and Moa Carlsson.
Russia’s Shamil Adukhov exits with back-to-back defeats.
The 23-year-old strawweight Muay Thai fighter was knocked out by Aliff Sor Dechapan on his debut in February, and lost to Ellis Barboza by TKO at ONE Fight Night 34 earlier this month.

The Bangkok Post understands ONE would welcome all of the released fighters back if they record some quality wins and gain momentum in other organisations.
With limited roster spots available across disciplines, the promotion may opt to release fighters from their contracts after they have suffered consecutive losses, allowing them to gain experience elsewhere.
ONE also confirmed the departure of South Korea’s Kwon Won Il, a former bantamweight MMA title challenger, electing to waive its matching rights after his contract expired.
The 30-year-old “Pretty Boy” last fought in January, when he suffered a first-round KO by champ Fabricio Andrade. He had been on a three-fight win streak prior.
