Takeru Segawa has entered the “final chapter” of his fighting career – and married life.
The Japanese kickboxing icon announced on Tuesday he had tied the knot with long-time partner Aoi Kawaguchi, sharing the news in a heartfelt social media post.
“A report to all of you who have always supported us. I am pleased to announce that I have married Aoi Kawaguchi,” he wrote.
“In my final chapter as a fighter,” he added, “from now on, I'm going to carry my family on my shoulders.
“I hope we can live our lives by supporting each other in good times and hard times. Thank you for your continued support!”

Earlier in the day, the former K-1 champion revealed he was flying to the United States to begin fight camp – on his 34th birthday.
“Today, I turned 34 years old. Thanks to everyone's support and encouragement, I've been able to fight this far,” Takeru wrote.
“I'll keep giving it my all, even if it takes a bit of my life, so I’d be thrilled if you’d keep your eyes on me.
“First, I’ll absolutely win on November 16. Please cheer me on!”

Takeru is expected to return to action at ONE 173 in Tokyo, where he will look to bounce back from his stunning first-round knockout loss to Rodtang Jitmuangnon in March.
No opponent has yet been confirmed for Takeru, who also lost to ONE flyweight kickboxing champ Superlek on home soil in January 2024.
Still, Takeru remains one of the biggest combat sports stars in Japan and a cornerstone of ONE Championship’s growing presence in the country.
The November 16 card at Ariake Arena marks ONE’s return to Tokyo following the hugely successful ONE 172 event at Saitama Super Arena, which drew more than 10,000 fans and a US$2 million gate.
